Would be great if the Ryzen 2000 series weren't out, but when you can get the superior 2700X for about the same price, the 1800X is a waste of money.

You can't. It keeps being $320-$330. Only time it got down around $300 was from ebay.

All these deals on ryzen 1xxx AND 2xxx EXCEPT the 2700/2700x. I'm going to end up choosing intel, I guess, since ryzens are costing more than the intels with comparable benchmarks. Notice even the standard 8700 has a better bench than the 2700x and costs $30 less. Would probably rather have 2700x just because it's better for workstation, but not if it's going to keep costing more.

Newegg and the Ebay deals had them at 15% off.

And even at the higher price, unless you have a cooler already, you'll make the money back with the (nice) stock coolers that are included with the 2700(X) vs 1800X. Not to mention it's just a much better chip in terms of power efficiency.

It was available for $280 at one point, and $300 is worth it for the improvements.

Nope. That $280 was ebay deals. And I have a lot of money tied up in newegg gift cards so have to get it from newegg and I doubt they would have let it be bought with gift cards via ebay.

As for the cooler, that only is relevant when considering the 8700k. But the standard 8700 already has a cooler and performs as well as the 2700x in most ways.
