This seems to be the same configuration as the recent Microcenter deal, except it's directly from Dell and is configurable.

Dell XPS 8930 Tower [dell.com]
  • $749.99 - $50 off Coupon Code 50OFF699 = $699.99 + Free Shipping

Steps to configure:
  • Select "8th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-8700 6-Core Processor (12M Cache, up to 4.6 GHz)" + $150.00"
  • Select "Windows 10 Home 64bit English - $50.00"
  • Select "8GB, 2666MHz, DDR4 up to 64GB $0.00"
Optional upgrades:
  • 256GB PCIe x4 SSD + $30.00 (instead of the 1TB hard drive)
  • 256GB PCIe x4 SSD + 1TB 7200RPM HDD + $100.00
  • An extra 8GB, 2666MHz, DDR4 (for 16GB total) + $100.00
  • 512GB PCIe x4 SSD + $150.00 (instead of the 1TB hard drive)
I am not sure if GTX 1070ti or GTX 1080 at the offered prices are good deal. The RAM and storage drive upgrades do cost a bit more than a good SD deal, but they may be worth it to avoid the effort of DIY.

Specs:
  • Intel Core i7-8700 Processor 3.2GHz
  • Microsoft Windows 10 Home 64-bit
  • 8GB DDR4-2666 RAM
  • 1TB 7,200RPM Hard Drive
  • Intel UHD Graphics 630
  • DVDRW Drive
  • SD Card Reader
  • 10/100/1000 Network
  • 802.11ac Wireless+Bluetooth 4.1

I bought an XPS8920 with 16GB DDR4+GTX 1050Ti with Windows 10 Pro for $671 without a sale promo. I would hold off for something else because this looks like a regular priced XPS if you ask me.

I was just looking for a desktop. Built one similar at microcenter. I got a little bit better configuration for the same price and it won't have the Dell parts.

Plus the cashback sure running their birthday sale is still at 15% for Dell (Outlet, Small Business, Home all are getting 15% right now)

The deal is back. It was pulled by Dell early this morning (price raised). Now it's back to $699.99 for the configuration from the OP.

The i7 is +$250...that's a mistake in the post. The total price is still correct...$699 with the coupon code. This seems like a great deal with the additional e baticus. The only thing I added was the 256gb ssd for $30.

Is the PCI-e SSD significantly faster than SATA or NVMe?

Correct. It depends on what comes up as the default configuration. On my PC, the i3-8100 is the selected default. On yours, it must be the i5-8400. But the final price is indeed the same if you select the suggested options.

Are you saying that microcenter can build one of their powerspec desktops based on your specifications? I have a microcenter near me and I couldn't find a powerspec on their website with the specifications that I wanted.
