LG refrigerator model # LMXS30776D

2 years and 4 months old. Paid $26xx.xx delivered from HHGreg on sale at the time. They are $3000 now +tax.

Stopped working 22 days ago.

Warranty: 7 years on the "sealed/closed system" 10 years on the compressor. Parts only.

(new 2018 lg refrigerators have 5 years parts and labor on the compressor)

First call to LG they were nice enough to offer to cover labor as well.

LG tech has been out 4 times, actually 8 as he has had to TS (trouble shoot) each time.

Parts replaced:

Compressor and drier 1x

Coil 3x

One time it worked for about 10 hours, then it leaked all the freon out again.

The compressor and the "closed/sealed system" are the big issues with these units. Google it.

No other appliance repair techs will work on LG as they are a PITA to work on and LG is a PITA to work with.

LG tech claims after 5 attempts, LG should offer to replace the refrigerator. My recent calls to LG support say otherwise.

Dang I am shocked. I've had really good luck with LG. I bought a stainless steel LG fridge from Bestbuy in 2004 for my first house and it is still running after 14 years. Never ever had any issue with it. Now it lives in the garage of my new home dealing with the blazing southern heat in the summer and freezing cold in the winter. Washer worked for 10 years and I replaced it when we moved to our new home with another LG. Dryer is still working after 14 years as well and shows no sign of dying. It's kinda sad to see how bad quality has gotten. I know that my units were made in Korea and now they make the washers in China and fridges in Mexico. Is one of yours those?

My friend bought his LG in 2013 and I bought mine in 2015. They were very similar models, but a few things were different between them.

To this day 5 years later he has never had an issue with it. I on the other hand don't even have mine anymore. So about 3 weeks of owning it, the fridge started making some weird noises. Then it displayed an error code and quit working until I would unplug it and plug it back in. I had GeekSquad coverage on it because I have heard so many horror stories about LG's customer service. GS came out and put a new part in the refrigerator section of it that had been redesigned because of the issue I was having. About 6 months after that it started making another noise. I called GS and they determined that the problem was now in the freezer area and LG also had a revised part for that. Then about a year after that I grab some stuff out in the morning and think to myself it didn't feel as cold as it should. I go ahead and go to work. When I get home I am greeted with a large puddle of water on the floor from all the melting ice. The fridge had stopped cooling, but yet everything appeared as normal. No error codes, and it made the same sound it always had while the compressor was running.

GS then gave me the option of Lemoning that one and picking out a new one, which I did. I will say that GeekSquad has been excellent for me with appliances.

Lg has a very sharp looking 33 inch wide 3 door stainless refrigerator I've been eyeing. During the big sale periods it goes down to apx $1700. It would fit and look great in our cottage. Guess I better steer clear & stick with Whirlpool. Whirlpool has always held up decent over the years.

My $3000 LG refrigerator craps out after a little over 3 years of ownership. Repairs would have been about a $1000 for labor. Parts were covered under the warranty. I declined. The repair service told me all brands are crap now and to make sure to buy the extended warranty on any appliance purchase.
