Don't quote me on this, because I don't have verification... My best friend's father is Swiss and moved to the US about 10 years ago. He told me that the Swiss government buys Swiss army knives in order to keep the company in business.(don't tell that to President Trump) Many Swiss soldiers are issue these knives, but a lot of them never use them...

So this means what about the quality and or durability of their products?

Every military member in the Swiss army receives a knife. However, the United States is still its largest market.

Victorinox absorbed its biggest rival, Wenger, over a decade ago, and is the largest maker of pocket knives in the world. It also makes kitchen knives, and other products like luggage and watches.

Unlike, say, Lockheed Martin, military supply contracts (for the Swiss and German forces) are a fraction of its business.

While the company is certainly no Nestlé, it might be interesting to hear what he thinks keeps that company afloat.

The evo models combine the best from wenger and victorinox. I prefer the regular victorinox 91mm to the evo series, but still a great deal.
