My posts aren't pretty but hopefully this one is effective. I love all of my Lodge cast iron. Put it in the oven at 400 degrees for 30 minutes with a light coating of vegetable oil when it first arrives and it will remain nonstick as long as you rinse it with hot water and no soap. Link below. Happy shopping!

Interesting variant, needed another 10.25 so might as well get a high walled one for variety.

So is this the chicken fryer without the lid, basically? Either way, good price.

Was keeping an eye out for my first cast iron purchase. Should I get this deep skillet or the regular skillet of same size?

I recommend the standard size not this deep walled version for your first piece.

I'd say go with the deep pan much more useful

I would go with the regular skillet. This one would be best for frying stuff, but the high walls make it more difficult for sauteing, cooking eggs, etc. Plus, it's just heavier. The standard skillet can still be used for pan pizza, corn bread, etc.

Go with the high sides it will hold more fried cabbage it's deep enough to fry up some smoked hog jowl and nothing cooks better cracklin cornbread.
