Author's Notes (originally posted on 05/14/2018)
  • I am super excited about this because I am using 101GB out of 105GB, and I've been using for the 100GB plan. there are literally thousands of post and online communities from people requesting that Google have a tear between 100GB and 1TB, so introducing a 200GB tier is wonderful.

Introduction (originally posted on 05/14/2018)
  • This is a heads-up thread, as this will soon be available to everyone, but it's currently only available to people who have received an email from Google. (You can sign up to receive updates here [google.com].)
  • Google is rebranding these storage plans as "Google One." The name "Google Drive" will refer to the non-paid version of Google One.

I'm waiting for them to make a shared storage plan. 200GB amongst a few users would be great

Per the Techcrunch article:
"Going forward, you'll also be able to share your storage quota with up to five family members."

Well they do say in the Techcrunch article "soon you will be able to share your storage quota with up to 5 family members", so there's that.

Not unless your have 5 users. It's $10/month/user. If you have less than 5 users you only get 1 tb of storage per user. The $5/month plan is limited to 30 GB per user.

Don't mean to sound too personal, but is that 100GB more of personal photos, videos, movies and such or work related?
I am not too big on collecting any of the above. We are everyday clicking so many pics ppl are hardly going back and remembering the old pics. May be once in years. But I can imagine they're memories. I probably don't care enough. The videos and movies library ppl make, never understand that either. So much content available to view, don't need a personal library of movies. Work related I can imagine, but then again the office would take care of it.

Anyway, for what it matters, google drive offered unlimited storage to edu email ids. May be to specific universities. Not sure if they are going to discontinue that. But mine still says unlimited.

As always, thanks for the detailed and well put post. Appreciate it.
