Please let me know how this works. Do I buy a regular router and just add this access point anywhere? I have Comcast and they provide me a modem and wireless router but house is too big and has too many dead spots n

you'll need a router or some sort of gateway to manage the traffic. Then you would place and configure this on the end furtherest from the Comcast router if you choose to go that route. you do have to install the controller software on something.

Absolutely works, I just used it.

Basically yes. This includes the poe injector so use that in between the router and this to supply this power. Best if you can mount this on a ceiling near your dead spots. It will not seamlessly hand off between the "two networks" you now have however.

This could extend my wifi via ethernet? It uses same ssid as main router and provides handoff?

Yes, and no.

You would need to run an ethernet cable from your main router to where you want this access point mounted to broadcast a WiFi signal. The handoff only works on two or more Unifi access points, so I would suggest setting up a different SSID for the Unifi access point.

Ic. I need all my wemo devices on 1 ssid so i could see them all at once. Probably best to go with mesh system like orbi.

Bought 1. Been wanting one of these for home but couldn't justify spending $100 on it.

Ubiquiti does mesh AP's as well. You're just looking at the wrong thread.
