I think the same drive was $114 from Newegg's and B.B. about two weeks ago. Newegg's didn't charge taxes but B.B. did.

should I be concerned that this is MLC? or is MLC as good as it gets while staying fairly affordable?

No haha. You should think exactly the opposite. Maybe you were thinking tlc? Mlc is better and plenty good for consumer grade ssd

i'm not an expert on this, but i believe that was the case the past few years until 3D TLC came along, which is claimed to be comparable (or sometimes slightly better) to MLC. But I read that the overall performance and reliability also depends on other factors (e.g., firmware, cache, etc.)

We have used various types and brands of SSD's at my job, and Samsung EVO drives have been very reliable and best overall value compared to others.

Mlc are too expensive for manufacturers to make for how cheap consumers are. So these days its tlc + micro controller. If anything be happy its MLC. MLC is always better but TLC plus other compensatory attributes are just as good these days.

SLC are best but not practically available for the average consumer. Maybe businesses.

MLC is what you want. TLC is the cheapest (and least best) of the 3 types.
