My 9 year old dog started acting more like a puppy (in a good way) after switching him to this. We also have some food allergies in the house so eliminating the gluten and white potato from dog food helped our family.

We buy the Salmon and Sweet Potato kind usually at Wal-Mart. I haven't compared the price but seems like a decent deal.

My dog has been on the Turkey version. So far no issues the past year. I usually get mine at Krogers though.

Kibbles are a bit larger than normal so a small dog might have issues with it. I've tried several brands and eventually ended up with this. Shiny coat on my dog and no dandruff. Yours may react different.

you should try and stick with the same brand so your dog gets used to it. if you should change brands for some reason you should slowly introduce the new brand

Most of these products use Farmed Salmon - hence the cheap price. You are better off feeding them something like the Double-Q Alaskan Salmon that Sam's sells for ~$9 for 4-cans. If you keep feeding these modern highly inbred pets with flimsy immune systems these products - they will suffer horribly from Cancer and other diseases - just something to keep in mind.

If you have pets and really care about their health, there is no quick and handy food to feed them - you have to do the research and feed them like the wild - fresh meat or something close to it.
Have you done any research on this specific brand? You just mentioned "most of these brands" which is a general statement.

Anyone know why Natural Balance L.I.D. Venison and sweet potato has become so expensive? It is around $70/28lb which is crazy. Any alternatives? The dog is hyper allergic to poultry, maybe salmon, a little unsure of other ingredients. This food has worked well for him for years but now it is prohibitively expensive.

Agreed! Switching brands without slowly incorporating the new food in with their existing food can cause a dog to initially have diarrhea or other stomach issues.
