To compare apples to apples, does Alaska Air charge for baggages and carry-ons? The Southwest sale is $49 each way.

Good price for sure. Thanks OP. For us on the West Coast, we get lots of good deals from Sac/Oakland, SF to LA, OC, Burbank, and San DIego. Another cheap ride is Las Vegas from any of these airports. I'm headed for St Maarten tomorrow and it's a long and somewhat expensive ride for us here in the West.

How much do they charge for a carry-on, with a hand bag?
I usually fly virgin, and strap my electric skateboard to my backpack, with my home made liion battery pack inside my bag.

It takes me to drive around 5,5 hours from SF to LA and back. There is no way I can do something in LA or more south without a car. So I'll have to rent it, ending up with pretty much the same prices. Just saying.
