Costco Wholesale has the Bionaire Twin Window Fan for $31.99 after an $8 limited time rebate valid from 5/14 thru 5/27. Available both in stores and online at Costco.com. Shipping, if buying online, is $9.99. This appears to be a member-only deal.

The fan includes a remote, offers reversible airfare and has a thermostat. Appears identical to the Bionare BW-2300N available on Amazon for $59.99:

A Wirecutter review favors the fan but there are a fair number of Amazon reviewers who claim that the product doesn't last:

If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

HOW TO HACK THE BIONAIRE TWIN REVERSIBLE AIRFLOW WINDOW FAN WITH REMOTE CONTROL TO MAKE THE THERMOSTAT WORK CORRECTLY

The Bionaire Window fan is a terrific quiet window fan that blows a lot of air. It even has a thermostatic control so that you can tell it to keep the temperature below a certain temperature and it will cycle on and off as that temperature is met. That prevents your bedroom from getting too cold at night. The only problem with the thermostatic control is that the thermocouple sensor is inside the fan housing and basically measures the outside temperature rather than the inside temperature. So I created a simple hack in order to fix this problem.

I don't take any responsibility for you destroying your fan by following these instructions. You do void your warranty by taking apart the fan and modifying it. But if you are comfortable with that here are the easy steps to modify this fan. Basically what you are going to do is to partially disassemble the fan so that you can access the circuit board, then you will move the wire that has the thermal sensor on it and drill or cut a small hole in the housing so that that sensor is now outside the fan housing and thus will measure the temperature of the inside of your room rather than the outdoors. This will make the thermostatic control much more useful.

Here's the page I created:

Also, be aware that the fan control buttons are electronic and have a feature that revs up the fan to get over inertia,Applause so you can't turn the fan on and off remotely with an Alexa Dot or Google Home attached to a smart switch. You can turn it off, but it won't turn back on without manual intervention.

I grabbed one in store yesterday and was really surprised how much cooler this made my room vs the box fan that was sitting 6" from the window. I've been thinking of going back for another.

Good fans. Literally had one on for a year straight. Still works great.

Hmm. I'm trying to think how this could be mounted so that I could easily open and close the window without adjusting the fans. I know the suction or blowing wouldn't be as effective if it's not tight but It should be good enough if the fans are decently powerful.

I've got a Bionaire air-purifier that I've been using for close to a year now, quality holding up very well. Wouldn't hesitate to buy this at $32

Just got this at the store and it's pretty damn good. We had 87 degree weather in seattle and this kept my room pretty cool. I also have a miner nearby.
