I'm with you. I have the original and every time I think about upgrading this always bugs me.

It's completely fine to not have an ethernet port with the Stick, but the premium, most expensive, version should have an ethernet port built-in, imo. There's no need to make it smaller and smaller, sacrificing the Fire TV's most important feature (to me, at least).

This doesn't have an ethernet port, so it is a no go for me. But it will be a good deal for others that don't need that to flawlessly stream local media.

Edit:
I just saw that amazon does sell a $15 adapter to add ethernet to the fire stick and fire tv through the Micro USB port. I may have to think about updating, but right now, I am still going to pass instead of going with the current Frankenstein method to add ethernet capabilities.

This third gen Fire TV is really just a slightly upgraded Fire Stick. I really like their older model better. I'll just keep my old ones for now. Thanks OP.

You will be disappointed with this fire tv. Better get a fire tv stick or even better get an older version of fire tv.

Sorry but Roku >>>>> Fire TV and Apple TV
Strongly disagree. There might be some things that Roku does better, but the Fire TV is significantly more powerful. I have PS Vue and Roku is almost unusable while I prefer my Fire TV even over my PS4. What I don't like about the Fire TV is that there doesn't seem to be as many apps available as the Roku and for some dumb reason, Charter won't let me log into HBO go on the Fire TV but it does allow it on the Roku.

Can you explain? I have a fire stick and it is horrible in keeping connection compared to my 3rd Gen Fire TV. Curious what would make it or the older gen better? Thanks!

My first gen Fire TV is still working, but amusingly the resolution quality is better using Netflix than Prime Video.
