Why is this getting voted down? Seems like a great price for a quality receiver. What am I missing?

Repped. This is a GREAT price for this unit. I'm so tempted to pull the trigger.

Probably because people want price in title

decent deal

equivalent denon is avr-x3400h

however, though they are almost the same, the denon has a better version of audyssey (MultEQ XT32 vs MultEQ XT) and the denon regularly gets posted on SD for sub $500

if you need a good receiver asap, this is good enough

But don't Denons have some quality issues? I'm just recalling tidbits I've read here and elsewhere.

same company, with newer generations i believe coming from the same factories. if one has issues the other probably does, too

that being said, denon/marantz still miles ahead of onkyo. denon+marantz (or yamaha) > pioneer > onkyo

Denon and Marantz are under the same parent company, and as such will use some common parts to make manufacturing more efficient. As such, you may see some common issues between Denon and Marantz equipment.

Additionally, if you do end up with Denon/Marantz receiver (or hell, probably any receiver), please chassis ground the receiver and introduce a surge arrestor to your cable coax feed line, even if it's not directly connected to your receiver, and only connects to your cable box. A friend recently fried the HDMI board on his SR7012, fried his cable box, fried his surveillance DVR (connected to SR7012), fried a Blu-Ray player, and fried a single HDMI input on his TV. The cause? Lightning struck a tree nearby and the tree was touching the aerial cable company line.

Can be price matched to Best Buy if there are any in stock near you, especially if you're paying tax anyways.

Marantz uses similar but different circuitry than Denton despite being owned by the same company

Also, Onkyo now owns Pioneer's AVR business

Yamaha is considered a bright sounding AVR, Pioneer is warm, Marantz is warm too

Amazon listing is frsuterating. It says no less than 4 times that it works with Alexa, but never says how. Anyone know?

edit: To start streaming with Alexa voice commands, open the Alexa app and select "Skills." Add HEOS Home Entertainment to enable. Then, go to Smart Home in the Alexa app menu and choose Devices and Discover or say "Alexa, discover my devices

If an amplifier has a "sound" there is something wrong with it.

And to contribute something useful to this thread I bought the Marantz SR-5011 last year and it has been great.
