Tamron 16-300 lens for Canon crop sensor (not full frame) cameras $250 at Woot.

https://electronics.woot.com/offe...t_elec_5_5

It's not going in anyone's studio, but if you are going on a trip, will be outside, and only want to take one lens, it ain't bad.

This is the lowest price I have seen and does not require filling out refund forms.

Seems like a great deal, wish they had the Nikon mount as well.

Woot does have the older 18-270mm for Nikon [woot.com] for a decent $119 price.

Never heard of woot before. Shipping by Amazon? So confused.

Woot is old school. It used to be independently owned and only 1 deal a day (similar to meh.com nowadays) and $5 flat shipping. Amazon bought them out years ago.

Since Amazon owns them, you can now pay through Amazon and use your Prime account for shipping. There's a ton of more junk now (Basically Amazon uses this as a "clearance" aisle), but still some good deals on occasion.

Cool, thanks for the informative response. I did check their "what is woot?" To see any mention of Amazon but didn't see anything

Seems like a great deal if I didn't already have a great multipurpose lens. 90 Day Woot warranty is the only thing I don't love.

Wow. Just bought the Nikon version of this lens a few weeks ago for $450 which I thought was a steal at the time.

Reviews at B&H Photo give this lens a 4.4 out of 5 stars, with a total of 190 reviews. Not too shabby.

From that page:
"Woot's the original daily deals site, founded in 2004 and snatched up by Amazon in 2010. Originally, Woot offered just one product per day until we sold out. Today, we offer special daily deals and other limited-time offers across seven categories."

Sounds like a better deal if you own a Nikon. Amy major difference between the two lenses?

Review from DPReview is pretty good as well.

The Final Word
For maximum focal length range - the superzoom's calling card - the Tamron 16-300mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD is in a class of one. There's not much in it though, and all its main rivals (listed in the introduction) have quite similar optical designs and performance, the same upsides and downsides. Prices are broadly similar too, though they vary from country to country. But when pressed to choose, by a short head, then the Tamron is just a little bit better all round: it has the highest spec, in the nicest package, with the most capable and rounded performance.

I know it would be a sacrilege to replace my 24-70 L with this... but would also lighten the load of not carrying a 70-200 and sometimes a wide angle. Decisions decisions, thanks SD.

I bought this lens a couple years ago. It suffers from fringing/chromatic aberration in most photos, but that's pretty easy to correct in Lightroom. Harder to fix is the softness you get in photos at lower f-stops (generally below F/8).

That being said, having one lens that covers such a wide focal range can be really handy. For casual shooting you can just grab this lens and not worry about bringing extra gear or swapping lenses. It's really a jack of all trades, master of none.
