I love mine..I'm on the second season with it. It lasts long enough to blast the perimeter of 1.5 acres.

It's quiet.

It's the easiest string loading system I've ever used. Just insert a piece through and turn the head..don't have to take anything apart.

Don't cheap out on the string.

My previous trimmer was a lehr propane. I don't miss it at all.

No experience with the mentioned Stihl.

If you are a man who needs an "ego trimmer" just get married. You wife will be happy to trim your ego, for free, as often as needed.

Thoughts on this string trimmer vs a Stihl FS 56 RC-E? Was looking to spend around $200, no preference of battery vs gas.

Got excited for a bit and saw it wasn't the powerhead version. Holding out for one of those. Nice deal though

I own this EGO and I've owned two echo gas trimmers. The electrics have a nitche, but will never hold a candle performance wise to a 2 cycle engine.

I just hate the smell and mess of gasoline and I have a yard that is easily handled by the Ego. Thus I switched when I moved from TX to MI.

I got tired of holding out and got the powerhead with edger attachment [homedepot.com], and then the trimmer attachment [homedepot.com] for retail ($238). No regrets.

I know several people who need their ego trimmed. But for the yard I've got a 15? year old Stihl FS76 which works just fine.

I need a trimmer deal as well. 200 bucks for a trimmer with 1 battery is a bit of a stretch when there is so much competition out there for cordless trimmers for less, including Dewalt.

Yeah, thinking I might do the same. Would love to get that trimmer edger combo with 5.0 battery down to about $350. Got a blower and mower already and the two 5.0s I already had could get me the bare tools but if I can grab another battery for cheap can't pass. Heh
