Boiler plate description:
A magnum velocity air rifle at 1250 feet per second with a .22 alloy pellet, the Octane is one of the first two break barrel rifles introduced under the Umarex brand. The Octane incorporates both a gas piston and a noise dampener. This gun is unique in that its gas piston operates in reverse of other gas pistons on the market. Termed the ReAxis Reverse-Axis Gas Piston, it has shown to provide an increase in velocity. Its SilencAir is a non-removable suppressor with five chambers that greatly reduce muzzle noise. The Octane also comes with a 3-9x40 scope, all-weather stock, and adjustable 2-stage trigger.

*Marketing over*

The price seems to be moving around on this item, but it's still a great deal. I ordered the gun Sunday night at $138.71 before coupon, so it looks like it moved up a little in price. This is still by far the cheapest option out there that I could find. It's a bit over $200 new for a top rated piston gun.

I cannot tell where the gun was refurbished, it looks like it's a new gun. It took two days to get the gun to me, so shipping was super quick.

Coupon Code nets you $5 off: WICK5

FWIW, they've got very competitive prices on pellets also!

This is my first pellet gun in 25+ years, they've come so far.

I haven't looked at any PCP guns yet that seriously. With that said, the Evanix Rex line looks quite interesting. I'll just call it an average price of $600 with a wide range of calibers. My state only allows up to a .22 though for small game air gun hunting. I don't yet have a 30-06 so I'll probably procure that in a real rifle next for hunting larger game. If the hunting laws were expanded, I'd certainly consider a PCP rile.

There's a few out there that seem like they are better deals.... I am looking to keep it under $300 or close to it.... been eyeing the UMAREX Guantlet
https://www.umarexusa.com/product...x-gauntlet
No cocking, 50 shots on a tank, 100 yards accuracy, semi (sort of, with bolt action) no pre-recoil messing up the pellet, and cheap .22 pellets....

That looks great. My problem is not having entered the PCP market yet, I'd need to get a tank. That's another $100 +/- on Craigslist. I'd feel naked going into the woods with the air in the gun. I hear the hand pumps are torture. But, that Gauntlet, ~50 shots, some reviews said 80-90, that would be a day of hunting small game without refilling.

I need a deal on a larger safe next, not another gun.

gotcha.....i am sure the octane will be great..... couple points that'll help get better groups.......there is a break in period(100 to 400? shots), clean the barrel, seat your pellets and mostly learn the "artillery hold" as shooting a break barrel rifle is quite different than a typical fire arm.... happy shooting Smilie

OMG. Thanks. Just watched some YouTube videos, explains why I've been so inconsistent.
