Costco is selling this laptop with these specs but double SSD storage (no HDD) for $750.

Not the same. Different processor.
A different processor with the exact same name?

From what I can see, the primary difference is this one has the 128 SSD + 1 TB HD versus Costco's 256 SSD only.

Personally, I'd prefer 256 SSD only but my guess is most would prefer the 128 SSD + 1 TB HD.

You get a 90 day return window, an extra year warranty (three with costco credit card).

I was doing a little reading via Google on the Costco warranty. Its no where as good as the Dell in home service. I would read up first if the extended warranty is a reason for purchasing. I would pay a little more personally and buy direct from Dell.

Please let me know if anyone has anything positive to say about dealing with Costco Tech support.

It's 4 years warranty with the Costco Visa. https://m.costco.com/concierge-tw...ranty.html

How exactly does it work? They double the 1 year from Dell and then provide the extra 2 from Costco tech support? My question is, say year 4 I have a hardware failure, how is it getting fixed.

They do not actually dbl the dell warranty since Partners lile Costco and BestBuy handle their own warranties. You get an extra year of Costco tech support or 4 years if you use their Citi CC.

So is something goes wrong you call Costco not Dell.

I have personal experience with the Costco-backed warranty. You first call their 'concierge' line, where Costco's (contracted) tech support diagnoses the issue. If it is something that they cannot handle, e.g., a hardware failure, the support person puts you on hold, contacts the manufacturer (Dell, Acer, whatever the brand of yours) right there, and then arranges a repair job for you, giving you a manufacturer's case number and all that. Thereafter, either the manufacturer's contracted tech shows up (if your machine has an onsite service warranty) or you ship the PC to the manufacturer after the manufacturer sends you the shipping material. From this point on, you just deal exclusively with the manufacturer until the warranty service has been completed. As you can see, as far as hardware services are concerned, Costco acts as a warranty service coordinator. For some software issues, on the other hand, Costco does have their own contracted tech support who tries to help.

Regarding your question about a Year 4 repair, it is the same process. The manufacturer usually has a component stockpile, even if something breaks down, they should be able to fix a machine as old as four years old in your example.
