I own one of these. The USB charging is terrible. Not only that, but the plastic pin inside one of the USB ports fell out. This thing is garbage and should be avoided.

Reviewer states it's 2.4 Amps combined to the USB. Deal breaker for me. Shady on their part IMO.

Seems like you have to install it? Is it not just plug n play? I was hoping to pick this up as a travel item

I have one similar to this. I had to take the plate off and screw this on in its place. That keeps it from pulling or falling out I suppose. There are others that just plug in. Those are much more convenient for travel.

Silly question, but how do you secure the center screw?

Yeah, props to the guy who posted the photo of this. Seems like most all of these do this though.

You remove the outlet cover, which is usually secured by a center screw. Place this against cover-less outlet and attach with surge protector screw.

EDIT: Yeah, you probably should keep the original faceplate on to keep dust out. As others below have said just remove the original screw and use the one included with this when attaching.

I have one of these by Monster (hey, I paid $4 clearance at Walgreens) and it holds in place fine without attaching by screw.

If you need one of these please shop around on Amazon for a better deal. I just bought something like this and there are tons of options for the same price or less. I ended up getting a better one for $6 and change shipped with prime but I think there was only a few left in stock.

Can you check your order history and post the link so folks can compare your good tales?

I've always removed the center screw and left the cover plate on, then placed unit on receptacle. Anything else seems a little unsafe imo.
