Adorama can do a little better than that. I still have 707's and a single 703 on back order from February, so beware if any of these are not in stock !!

Wow this is not so bad considering the price of the receiver. But man you have to be making some big bucks and have high audio standards to spend that much on a receiver.

Not quite as good a deal this time around, but not terrible. The last deal (a month ago) had the 707's, 706c, 703s, and the RX-A3070 for $2800 (and same with the 702 F/x for $3200). This time, you only get the 705's, 704, and RX-A3070 for $2300 (or same with 702 F/x for $2800).

Last deal was a 68% discount, this time around is a 60% discount.

I guess I understand the idea of "not as good as before"
But I'm looking at the prices of the individual pieces, and this looks like an amazing deal.

What's a reasonable price to expect for the Yamaha RX-3070 if I bought the package and sold the receiver? On that note, anyone in the Baltimore/DC area want the receiver?

Adorama had the receiver on sale for $1400 3 weeks ago.

I would love to buy it, but it's not in the budget (and I'm not in the Baltimore/DC area).

It is a good deal if you compare to the retail prices, but comparing to the past SD prices (have been on sale about 10 or 20 times in the last year or two), there have been better. These speakers are probably about getting to the end of their product cycle now too as you can't get a lot of the speakers in black anymore.

They usually go for about $1500-1550 on ebay.

Figure in that if you sell the receiver on ebay be prepared to give them at least 10% of the money.

I currently own the 705 speakers and am in the process of trying to sell them. I bought them last July in one of the adorama bundles. I even defended the LSiM s against criticism in SD threads.

After 10 months, I can confidently say that these are good speakers but not great. I feel these speakers have an identity crisis. They are detailed but cannot keep the same level of preciseness playing though high frequencies which feels like they are masking something. This is prominent music with strong vocals or stringed instruments. The bass is good, but not boomy enough to deliver an exhilarating home theater experience. They also lack bite needed for sound effects in movies. They will need a subwoofer even when powered with an amp for movies. They are fine without an amp or sub for music. The speakers are power hungry, so plan to run them with a dedicated amp anyways to get the most out of them.

The good: They are not fatiguing. Look great. Sound good (friends have even complimented the sound). They play flat across all frequencies.

I ran them with a denon x4300h and parasound hca-1500a amp.

I have since replaced them with ascend acoustics sierra 2 bookshelf speakers for LCR and am using Polk audio rti a3 for surround. The a3 have good bite but can be fatiguing which is bad for music but good for movies. Ascend is currently running a special on b-stock. Comes out to ~$600 per speaker when I bought three.
