Pretty good price for new laptops. But if you don't mind to have a factory refurbished laptops - on Dell Outlet you can have a lot better specs for this price

True, you can have i5, 8gb, 1080p for $770 there. However they don't have 4K or rose gold in stock. There's also 10% off coupon for new on dell where you can get rose gold one. If you want 4K, this is the best price.

I'm very torn about whether to get the current XPS 15 or to wait for when intel releases new arch processors with hardware fix for the meltdown / spectre bugs.

I agree - I think 16 GB memory is a must on any new laptop/desktop at this point.

If you have a Costco membership, I've been told that starting May 23 they are having a sale on XPS 13 9370 with double the memory (16 GB) and SSD (512 GB) for only $100 more ($1399). Plus I believe they have a cheaper extended warranty + accident protection at $99 for 3 years. Or if you use a Costco CC I think it is extended to 4 years even for free maybe?

I picked up the Costco deal on the ThinkPad X1 Carbon last week (typing on it now!) but debating whether to stick with it or return and get this XPS 13 deal instead. Choices, choices!!

This exact same spec has been as low as 1099 from MS and has been 1149 on multiple occasions (I bought at 1099 and installed an EVO960 512). Great laptop. Screen is top notch, better keyboard and more key travel than a lot of competing ultrabooks offer. Perfect for working on a plane.

Will it have a 1080p screen or 4k screen with touch?

I think the model that Costco carries is the 4k touchscreen.

I just bought an Inspiron 13 7000 2-in-1 from a recent front page deal and holy cow the fan is loud. It's a definite return. Not sure if this a problem across all recent Inspiron models? Does anyone know? Any feedback is appreciated.

I have 13 5000 2 in 1 and the fan noise is awful. No wonder this junk was so cheap. It is to the extent of embarrassment in a quite room with other people. So I got a xps 13 9370 refurb lately. Very nice laptop. Fan comes on and off, but not the same loud noise. Also when it gets loud, it goes away much faster than my 13 5000. I also don't need a high spec, so my xps is i5 with 8gb and non-4k. Not sure i7 with higher spec and better screen make more heat.
