Amazon and Comixology have Kindle versions of several excellent Manga collections on sale for $0.99. All of these have also received excellent Anime adaptations but at this slick price, great way to experience both formats:

Voices From a Distant Star [amazon.com]

Princess Jellyfish Vol 1 [amazon.com]

5 Centimeters per Second [amazon.com]

The Garden of Words [amazon.com]

She and Her Cat [amazon.com]

If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

You won't regret it. It's an adaptation of a very popular animation movie. But it holds its own. I felt that some segments of the story benefited heavily from black and white. Especially the train scene. You're in for a treat.

I wish the whole series of a title was just .99 cents. It's still a great buy but kind of a tease as I'm too easily swayed into getting them ALL!

Is it worth reading the manga if I already saw the 5cm/second movie?

Yes, if you enjoyed it. The manga actually adds a bit to the story, including going into a lot of depth into one interaction that was effectively glossed over in the film. (I felt this was one of the most important, too, the moment where a big realization hit.)

Voices from a distant star manga is far better than the anime. It's actually what introduced me to Makoto Shinkai's work.
