They are made in Indonesia, and they are good starter for the price. Good wood and good construction quality. If one sticks with playing the bass, then pickup, electronic and bridge upgrade will give you a quality bass.

These basses should play pretty nicely once they are given a proper setup, but please be aware they *will* need to be set up before they feel very nice.

If you are unsure how to do a setup, please ask a friend! You'll need to set the relief (truss rod), set the string height at the nut, set the string height at the bridge (saddle height adjustment), and set the intonation (saddle position adjustment). But once you do those things, you'll have a nicely playing instrument. Those basses usually sound really nice.

The vintage modified basses are great for the price. For 230+ though you can buy used MIM Fender guitars.

These are great basses. Quality wise, not as good as a nicer Fender, but sound wise, these are very hard to beat under a grand. These are a staple in many recording studios because their cost to sound ratio is very high.

It's seems so. I was trying to jump on the sunburst. No go.

Found a Squier '72 Thinline (natural finish) at a pawn shop last month for a good price. Gathered dust more than played from the look of it. The neck, front and back have the same glossy spray on them as the body so it may not be easy to play so well in humid conditions. Two of the tuner posts are pulled up (very slightly) on the headstock. Not a huge deal. Very lightweight. Neck is straight, no frets sticking out. Overall, I say a good deal, not spectacular.

Needed to replace a junk bass I bought off a friend years ago, and the reviews on this Squier are surprisingly good. This is a good distraction from that Elite Strat I keep seeing.

Is this dead? Keeps giving me a message that SPRINGTIME isn't valid. I'm trying to get the $230 bass.

I guess things have changed over the years. Squier used to be the cheap garbage brand parents would buy their kids when they both knew damn well that he wouldn't be playing it any more in 3 months. They're still 50 bucks with an amp at a pawn shop. Maybe the bass quality is better.
