Normally costs 450. This is the lowest price I've seen so far, but I might be wrong.

What's so special about this? Accepts 65W desktop 7th gen Intel processors (even takes a 7700k if you delid the CPU and use Liquid Metal) while also having a 62Wh battery so you still get respectable battery life out of a mobile workstation.

Build your own. So, you need to add CPU, memory, and hard drive. Depending on your needs that's another $500+.

Didn't know there were barebone laptops that took desktop CPUs. Pretty interesting stuff.

If there is thunderbolt 3 port, I will consider DIY this laptop.

It appears that this "budget gaming laptop" does not include a Thunderbolt port. Bummer.

This is my first time seeing a barebones laptop. Aren't laptop parts generally more expensive than desktop parts?

Yes, but considering this laptop supports desktop cpus (judging from the title) it won't be much of an issue. Ram is a different story.

The cheapest unit with Thunderbolt 3 appears to be the N131WU Thin & Light Performance Laptop ($749). But that includes the i7-8550u CPU.

It makes sense if you already have a desktop ( w/ or w/out dead motherboard) and want to switch to something portable. Those who switch jobs and move frequently probably would like this.

Consider it the next of miniITX form factor with inbuilt screen.

Because it would cost a lot more.
