I've always wondered if these were cheaper on the power than running a central air conditioner in the house.

If you central air can be controlled to just one room then I'd say no but other wise this definitely should be better. Also consider you must how your window open so bugs can possible enter your home easier so it's a trade off.

Not a bad price. I can cut fitted acrylic sheets at work to keep the bugs out. That plus all the bifenthrin that's going in the yard. I'd rather pay this now than 50-75 more in the summer. I had a few old units crap out last summer that need replacing

Will remotes from other brands such as Sharp and Frigidaire work with this one? Nice to be able to have an extra one.

The answer is yes. I have been doing this for 25 years, and it saves a LOT of money over running the central HVAC, and your bedroom can get much colder (I like mine around 63 degrees). I won't live without one.

I wouldn't personally buy an air conditioner this size, unless it was 240 volt. 120 volt will cost you twice as much to run than a 240 volt.
What....how'd you manage to make that fact up lol please don't tell me you're correlating Volts to $

Dedicated room ACs may be a tad cheaper compares to older HVACs only if you can may it exclusive to that one room and your insulation and piping are in good shape

Double the volts = double the power. Forget about that pesky current variable.

Good luck finding an AC in the US of this size with 220V. It's not happening so save your typing effort
