Got one of these B-hyve controllers last time they were posted here, if I remember correctly this ended up costing less than $10 after using a SoCal Water$mart rebate.

Check and see if your city has similar programs.

Funny, was just on the line with customer support this weekend because my orbit 12.zone byhyve which has been working for a year now will connect to WiFi and then disconnect immediately after.

They are sending me a new unit.

Actually some reviews say they sometimes forget to water. The opposite of "reliable".

Coming from a system that is on a daily timer, what is the benefit in getting a system like this?

Well according to the other SD's post

"Once I got it working, it has worked well. It will delay a scheduled run if there's rain in the forecast. It will estimate soil moisture based on zone profiles (you tell it the type of dirt, grass, and sun exposure per zone), and determine how much water your zones likely need. "
My current system couldn't do this , do it's time to upgrade

Agreed on those points, you can also adjust the chance of rain percentage which is helpful. you can schedule your own, activate from your phone remotely, or let it smart water. There are also catch cups you can get which basically measure the water output of your sprinklers. Glad i purchased it and would recommend, esp at this price.

Thanks. Picked up the motion activated sprinkler. Maybe this year I will get to harvest some jujubes. I use the AirCrow for my cherries (works great), but don't have enough outlets to protect more than two trees. Hopefully this will keep the birds and deer away.
