I'm drinking a cup of this from the last deal, made with a Kalita Wave. I'm sure it tastes better as espresso and I think I like Crema e Aroma better. This one kind of reminds me of Gran Filtro. I prefer dark roasts (but not over-roasted) overall, but this medium roast is very drinkable. A little bit flat on flavor but maybe it's because I like a stronger taste. The Wave needs hotter water for brewing than a French press, and I think this particular bean needs to be brewed with water on the hot side for best results.

The beans are very dry, requiring hardly any cleanup in the grinder. It seems like Lavazza roasts the beans just right, unlike most of the brands that charge less than, say, $10/lb.

Definitely a good price, though. Really beats the bulk coffee at the grocery store for this price, and especially for freshness.

Got one bag last time.. I looked for roast date on bag there is none. Anyone know how to find that out?

There is 'espresso roast' which not referring to a purpose or a type of grind.
Espresso roast is a dark roast that's reminiscent of flavors of espresso. It's not generally for making espresso.

Espresso grind is like you said fine grind for making espresso.

However please do note that this coffee is neither espresso roast or espresso grind.
The name of the coffee is "Caffe Espresso" and roast level is medium roast.

I'm confused, I didn't know expresso came in a medium roast. Is it an "American Roast" sort of medium roast? If it is I'm in.

Just so people are aware if you shop at Sam's Club their Member's Mark organic two and a half pound bag of whole beans is only $14 and change been buying it for years.
How well does it work for Espresso? I've tried the Costco Kirkland Signature (roasted by Starbucks) beans that are around the same price, and they were much inferior to this Lavazza bean for Espresso.

I don't think they list the roast date, just the use by date. I ordered a couple of bags last month and the use by date was Dec 2019 I think so it was pretty fresh. Not like a local roaster but the price is also a lot cheaper than anything I found roasted locally.

Espresso roasts are almost always light to medium roasts. Most automatics cant take dark/oily roasts and they taste horrid for espresso. Beans are roasted dark for a reason and most of the time not for a good reason.

Spot on. Dark, shiny beans mean the oils came out during the roasting process and caramelized around the coffee bean. It's never a good thing and is pretty indicative of low quality and/or improperly roasted coffee.
