PSA: VUDU expands free ad supported content, now its VUDU Free Movies and TV

"For some time now Vudu has offered a collection of free movies. Now they have expanded to include free TV shows and even more movies."

The few times I've used it the ads aren't too bad. Quality is good, some say their streaming quality is higher with better controls etc. than some of the other fee services, ymmv on that.

Vudu "Movies on us" is awesome. Very few short ads. It's kind of funny that the ads are almost always for Vudu itself.

I watched one the other night and the first vudu ad was 25 minutes in. Then they came every 15 minutes. The ads also says 1 of 1 so they will eventually be selling the spots and showing more than one ad per break which is the which is excactly what they aim to expand. They just have to build up that "free" customer base first.

1 every 15mins isn't too much? Will be annoying to watch a movie, I think. Did you like the experience?

This is pretty damn awesome of Wal-Mart. Hulu charges customers monthly and has more ads than this...

I thought it was but then again I'm used to not seeing ads on Netflix, Prime and HBO and I block ads on the internet. So basically I find all ads annoying so I'm biased.

I would say they are working towards the Crackle model if I had to guess.

But to be fair the ad was only a vudu ad for 22 seconds but there was a pause to reload the movie cache after every ad.

Yeah, their ad stitching leaves a lot to be desired. But free options are free options.

Try the Roku channel, it has like 3 minutes of ads every 15 minutes, big turn off.

I don't think this would be so bad if it's for TV shows, it's not like you can watch the majority of TV shows without ADs anyways. I pay $90 a month and have to watch 20 minutes of commercials for basically every hour of any TV show I watch.

Do they censor any of the free movies or tv shows? I see Shameless on the list and would like to know if it's complete before attempting to watch it.

It's no worse than watching a movie on cable TV, it's actually MUCH better than that, and free. I wish they'd allow people to watch more ads before and maybe in the middle, instead of spreading them out so much, but it's still a great free option.

wow I'm impressed with the HDX for free. You can choose HDX or SD. Dances with Wolves looked great on my new 4K tv. At least until everyone finds out and bogs down the stream. I didn't stay longer for the next ad but it's a good thing to have for free. Only limit is my 40Mbps DSL and DTVN takes up 15 of that with three streams.
