I cannot think of a single person that would pay $700+tax for a mediocre 2017 clearance TV. Then you have 90 days to try and use the promo card or its gone. This is a bad deal.

It would be much smarter to just buy a 55" TCL R615 for $600+tax. Superior picture quality, 2018 TV, and no hassles dealing with using a 90 promo card. This is a bad deal.

Why do people buy the lower end LG TVs like this? While their top-end is great, there are far better options at this price point.

I'm new to researching tv's but my understanding is this is a 120hz and TCL is 60hz... yet TCL 6 series is better?

Motion handling is about more than just the hz rating. In many metrics, for example, the TCL 6-series handles motion significantly better, despite only having a 60hz rating.

If you're struggling to figure out what TV to buy, I suggest using Rtings as a comparison tool primarily. They're the most scientific source out there.

Do you plan on using a PC at 120hz with this TV.
Xbox one x is supposed to get 120 hz capabilities soon also.
But short of those things 120 offers VERY fee benefits.
And as far as 24p content goes.A fair amount of TVS can go down to 48hz for non 3:2 playback of 24p content.

I would look at either last year's tcl p605/7 or this year's 6 series.Also Vizio's M series is a solid TV.
The only scenario I see this as a better purchase is if you are absolutely gonna use that Dell card and you need wide viewing angles(and are willing to sacrifice black levels/contrast.)

Then I'll edit my comment:

LG's LCD TVs are garbage.

As per review this TV has worst black levels. Not worth it imo.
