The Smartest House has a Memorial Day sale. In particular they have Z-
Wave thermostat on sale for $29.75. Works with Smartthings. This is the cheapest price I have ever seeing. Shipping is free on order over $70, otherwise the cheapest shipping is around $7.

It works with the old smartthings app, but if it works with the new app, I've not been able to get it paired.

For me it works in both apps.

How's that? I can't have both apps working at the same time. The hub can only be registered to one. I've even gone through samsung support and they tell me it's not supported. I'm currently waiting to hear back from them to see if there's a workaround but if you could let me know how you got yours paired I'd appreciate it

edit: here's what samsung replied to me - Thank you for contacting us. We appreciate the opportunity to assist you.
I'm sorry to see that you're having this issue. Unfortunately, the Radio brand of thermostats are not certified Works With SmartThings devices, and thus would have relied on a custom device handler to allow full functionality in the SmartThings App. The New SmartThings App does not yet support devices with custom device handlers, so until this is implemented in the New SmartThings App, this device will be unable to be used

Would like to know if custom handler works with the device with new smarthings app and does it need c wire to work while install. TIA.

Samsung support says it does not but apparently chnrk got it working so hopefully they'll update and let us know how!

i believe it says you either need to use batteries or a c-wire...

Is a C WIRE required? the product page says
Quote :
The CT101 is to be used with 24 VAC C-wire (or a 12-24 AC or DC source) and/or 4 AA alkaline batteries and millivolt gas systems.
... I'd like to be sure someone got this working without a c-wire before purchasing.

I own it and don't have a c wire. Batteries last a long time, not exactly sure how long but long enough where I don't remember the last time I changed them.

No C-wire used here, but the (4) AA batteries will definitely need changing about twice a year based upon use... I rent, so this was the only option for me, and it's always worked great 4 me!

I do not have any custom handler for this thermostat. It just works in both old and new smartthings apps. Today when I opened a new smartthings app it updated handler for me (I haven't opened a new app for a while, I prefer an old one, but in any case thermostat works in both)

I have one of these for our main floor HVAC. Been in use for five years now, on the third set of batteries, and works flawlessly. We have it connected to Protection1/ADT and the alarm.com app. This will replace the manual thermostat we have upstairs. Ive not seen one this cheap before. $7.60 in shipping but still worth it. Thanks OP.

UPDATE: Protection1 uses Alarm.com as their smart services provider. As of May 27th, they do not support the CT 101 or CT 100 thermostats.

New app is SmartThings ( Samsung Connect), isn't it? It does work there without any customization.
