PLEASE NOTE that if you mail in the rebate on the product page you MIGHT get turned down. The lower left hand corner says "ONLINE PURCHASES ONLY." If you send in an instore purchase receipt, you might be out of luck. I'm going to do my best tonight after going by the store to submit online.

Can this be used on a wooden shed? Would it help make the wood a bit stronger?

The product page shows the rebate.

edit: rebate form shows Thompson as eligible. so FAR (end up paying tax). also note rebate is in the form of HD prepaid card.

I dont think it will stick since you are sealing it. Even paint will bead up on it. You are better off buying an all-in-one or just doing the stain before sealing.
