I've been a Chaplin fan for decades and Robert Downey Jr. is amazing. I think he deserved the Oscar that year but they tend not to give acting awards to actors in movies that did poorly at the box office. I do recommend the film, but think the plot was unnecessarily dark and repetitive.

If you like it, check out a real Chaplin film. Start with Modern Times, City Lights, or Gold Rush.

If you become a Chaplin fan and live in Los Angeles or will be visiting, the movie studio that Chaplin built is still there. It's on La Brea Bl., 1/2 block south of Sunset, on the east side of the street. The buildings facing the street have a faux Tudor style and stretch down to De Longpre. And there is one-story high Kermit the Frog at the driveway entrance becasue It's now the Jim Henson Company. Before that it was A&M Records where some legendary albums were recorded. P.S. The A in A&M was Herb Alpert of the Tijuana Brass.

It's a shame it isn't available on Vudu or ported to Movies Anywhere. The Graduate is another title I had to purchase on iTunes too.
