I was looking to replace my old, but still working, Escort 8500 X50.... The blind spot detection ("BSD") radars on today's cars are just too much for the old workhorse.

I've had a few Escort radars in the past, so I started there. I was drawn to the Max360 as I found a deal for $375. But that unit has lots of negative reviews and after further research, I decided the Uniden R3 was the way to go.

As this is the unit I wanted, I started searching. It appears Uniden has strong control over pricing, as this is sold at $399 everywhere. When anyone has a sale, this is specifically excluded from their deals. So finding an R3 on sale was my goal and I setup deal alert here on SD....

While I was looking, I saw Costco had the Escort Max2 on sale for $320 + tax... So I picked that up last week. The unit works well and the BSD filtering is great.... did a 300-mile trip and had only one BSD false alert the entire drive. That was very nice. But the mount sucks - it squeaks and the unit bounces on any uneven pavement. Annoying to say the least. Reviews say that is a common issue with some units having no such issue and others can't escape. So that will go back to Costco upon receipt of this baby!

This post came up and the seller has 100% positive reviews. With that, I jumped on this deal as it's what I wanted for a very good price (lowest I can find in the history is $340...
This is clearly the best deal currently.

Thanks, OP and reps! Looking forward to getting this at the end of the month.

Got this the last time around it was posted for $350.

Took it on a trip from SoCal to NorCal and everytime it went off, I would see a cop. It warned me early enough that I had time to slow down.

Quick question for people, so right now I have a dash cam, an iPhone usb charger, and this device in my 17 4Runner, which only had 2 charging outlets.

Can anyone recommend something that will allow me to connected everything to a car fuse and do a stealth install where I don't have a bunch of wires everywhere?

Dis detector is amazeballs. I've only used it a couple days but it almost never has false alerts to where you wonder if it's working. The time I did pass a cop it alerted TWO MILES in advance. Kept looking and looking and looking and looking....

I would highly advise you to tap into the rear view mirror (if yours is powered which it should be on such a new car) and then you can mount the radar detector itself to the rear view mirror stem using a blendmount (or build your own using a bicycle reflector if you don't want to spend an arm and a leg)

I picked this up last deal as well. I ended up going with a Blendmount mirror attachment, and used their MTX Mirrortap wiring kit. Looks and works great. Definitely recommend. It's a bit pricey, but it's very high quality.

Yes it was since they all sell for MSRP ($400) minus any ebay coupons. The 20% brought it down to $320 in March (link below). Uniden isn't likely going to reduce the MSRP for a while since this is king of the radar detectors and it's much cheaper than the Redline which is outperforms. If you want one now, this is currently the best price.

Does this handle laser well? Not sure I understand high price tag comparing with regular priced.

No detector will help you with laser in reality. Laser doesn't bounce all around like radar, so if the detector goes off then they already have you. Radar is what detectors are good for because they bounce around and this is the best one on the market currently. If you want to save some money, you can look for a good price on a Uniden DFR7 or LRD950. I have the 950 flashed to DFR7 firmware and it works great. The range is good, but not in the same class as the range on this R3. In addition, it is weak on the 33.8 KA band which could get you busted if they are using that particular KA band frequency in your area. I suggest the forum below for the best info, comparison and tests of the Uniden detectors.
