Pretty good deal for a 5TB hard drive. It looks like it's B&M as I don't see it being available for shipping. YMMV. You'll need to be on their email list to get the coupon code. To sign up for their email list, go to https://www.frys.com/workflow/Acc...m/subc.jsp

Shuckable? (meaning: can be disassembled and used as internal drive)

Yeah [google.com]: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qB24JlZoEWg.

Inside you'll find the Seagate Barracuda (ST5000DM000), which according to Amazon reviews [amazon.com] has a different firmware in the external HDD variant. Apparently it's soft-throttled when used as a desktop drive.

I got free local delivery... and by "local", I mean I'm about a 50 minute drive away.

FWIW I have the 8Tb model of this drive. It is fine for true backup purposes, but it feels painfully slow for copying my media files to/from it, compared to my 8Tb WD Easystore.

TL;DR - backup fine, heavy use bad

Sorry to hear that. I'm weary of Seagate too based on reviews, but ironically my current backup HDD is Seagate, and it's been going strong with no issue. HDD is always a bit of gamble as some of us can run into bad seeds.

I have lost too much of valuable data to Seagate that I nauseate, the moment I hear that name.
5TB is an odd drive.

Thumbs Down and you better have a good data recovery system, or don't load anything of value on this drive, if you are going to buy this junk.
