These are Allen Edmonds McCallisters

AE site Link [allenedmonds.com]

BB adds a rubber sole and a leather footbed (which makes them a bit tighter). BB will no longer carry AE and so you probably won't see these again. Along with AE raising their prices, this may be the last chance to get these in firsts this cheap.

Wow, I never knew that AE made for BB. Is this the lowest price on the McCallisters?

AE increasing prices is pure insanity with what they are right now.

I just received my captoes that I got for the same price. I ordered the same size as my AE's but a C instead of B width and I'm happy with them. Definitely a bit tighter than standard AE, though. Only quality issue was a slight leather blemish but not in a visible location. Everything else is top notch.

Agreed, their shoes used to be a good value when these were around $300 full price, but full price at $425 is pretty bad. I might go in for a pair of these even though I my set is in good shape.

I prefer the BB's insole over AE's -- very comfortable.

Bad thing. it means you are overpaying if you don't care who makes it

Brooks Brothers is correct to dump them. Allen Edmonds quality has gone to hell since they started doing most of the work in Dominican Republic. They do the final sewing and finishing of some shoes in the USA, but that's all. Last 3 pairs I ordered were crooked and different right to left. I'm giving up on them.

They're really ugly, IMO. Moreover, the $428 is a made-up MSRP. That kind of price approaches the famous Italian brands already.

The AE sells for that much when they aren't on sale. Regardless of what happened to their quality, that's the current pricing.

Do you have any sources for that info? According the the AE website they only have certain shoes like boat shoes which are made in DR. Those will be marked by saying it's under the "AE" brand or something else (Not "Allen Edmonds"). To my knowledge their dress shoes are still totally made in the US
