I don't have SS version 1 or 2 but in reality the chances of being affected by this are almost non-existent. I've never heard of a documented case of someone hacking older versions of simplisafe with this vulnerability to commit a residential burglary. Thieves that would go to the effort to hack systems would be going after bigger targets, not an average person's house. 99.9% people that commit residential burglaries will not use hacking technology to do so. The chances of being affected by this is on par with the odds of winning the lottery.

I agree, but I feel that it's a little overpriced for what it is. I'd be in for $200, but even on sale at $350 it's just way too much for the unit.

And your contribution to the discussion was quite informative 😑

Having tried a few smart alarm systems, I've prefer the Nest the best. It's more expensive for the unit and components, but I've been very happy with the system.

Good price btw, cheapest I've seen outside of the $299 Moni deal when you sign up for monitoring.

simplisafe is much better and cheaper.
Doesn't simplisafe also broadcast your pin unencrypted?

This doesn't have monitoring unless you pay to add it.

Yes it does. Easy for some to remotely disarm your system

I agree with you. Self-monitoring defeats the main purpose of an alarm. Also you wont get discounts on your home insurance with selfmonitoring only. I guess if you have a lot of money go for the Nest, same with their cameras. They are a little but better than the rest but waaaay more expensive.
