if these are like the Best Buy verizon prepaid iPhone se, No.

A few of us bought some last year only to find out that apple updated their servers to not allow it to be unlocked.

I think the sticker on the box says 1 year of prepaid service or $150 loaded to the prepaid account in order to unlock it

Being locked kills the deal, unless you love the iPhone SE form factor, Apple, and currently use Verizon. I wonder if it works with Verizon mvno's.

If I remembered correctly, for those you had to pop out the prepaid Verizon sim and insert tmoble and it will unlock. And those were prepaid too.

So only way to unlock is to pay the $150 ransom? No other options to get a cheap unlocked iPhone?

Can't you use an R-SIM to unlock it? Or is that only for GSM?

I have an Iphone 5S Verizon Prepaid. Do you think this could be unlocked just by putting in a foreign SIM?

Brickseek had this at $60. Found a few in the prepaid phones aisle and they were all stickered $100. They scanned $60 in the target app, item not found on the price checkers in the store and $100 at checkout, so I ended up deciding to hold off.

I would be using it on VZW PP anyway if I decided to activate it so the $150 to unlock isn't a big deal to me.

With so many places clearing various iPhone SE models out though, I have to imagine an SE2 or something is on the way.
