This is Dell's new Alienware 15 R4 laptop. This version comes with the GTX 1070 OC
I don't what is its quality, but for $1200 (+ tax) it should be worth it, especially compared to what you can currently get for $1200

The deal price is $1400 and you can use Slickdeals $200 rebate.

The only real question about this deal is whether or not one should wait for the new NV GPUs. I think it's better to wait, but I post it anyway, just in case someone considering it now

In the description it would be $1400 plus tax, then a $200 rebate. It's a good price with the rebate, but this deal is a lot less appealing because the listed price is only after a rebate.

1080p screen that isn't even 100hz with this 1070 doesn't make a ton of sense, but other than that this is a solid deal

Note: This deal is not available until tomorrow, 5/28 @ 5pm. Its their grand finale of their Memorial Date Sale. If you need to buy today for any reason, I prefer their G3 i7 1060 deal more as its much more portable. I included a mechanical keyboard to bump the total over $1000 in order to qualify for the $200 SD rebates. total came to $800+tax after the rebate.

I like this Alienware, only if it comes with a 120Hz refresh rate 1080p G sync display so I can take advantage of the GTX 1070. otherwise its overkill with most AAA titles at 1080p 60 Hz.

I agree on the screen. It would be nice if Dell would let you select a different one.

But you can replace it manually. Still worth it

You will need to make sure you do not need to replace the eDP cable though as Dell uses different ones for different panels depending on resolution and panel refresh rate. These are next to impossible to find for newer Dell systems.

Is it possible to connect this laptop to a 144hz monitor and get higher Hz?

The Alienware series have extremely high failure rates. That combined with dell's almost nonexistant customer service makes this a very bad investment. I'm stating this from my personal experience. The techs who tried to repair mine several times personally told me about the quality. Please think through before giving your hard earned money to dell.

True, but almost everything is the standard 30 or 40 pin cables. Haven't seen otherwise in practice. This is a standard so shouldn't be hard to find
