What are the estimate cost of materials (gold, metal etc) to manufacture hdd, ssd?
Don't include marketing, advertisement cost.

Marketing and advertisement are minimal, and I can't imagine the raw materials amount to much more than a couple dollars either.

What you're missing is the research and development costs and the manufacturing costs. Even if it's a third-party drive manufacturer that doesn't make their own flash chips, they're still paying for it indirectly in the cost of their chips.

The actual cost of a single NAND flash chip is tiny. The cost of the fab that produces them might be in the billions of dollars. Same with HDDs -- the cost of the spinning platter is about zero compared to the manufacturing tooling required to build drives that can spin with such precision and (essentially) never fail.
