home theater speaker setup

604 173 May 27, 2018 at 08:18 PM
Have a 21x36 room.

Due to walkway on 21 foot side, I have 15 feet.

Main sofa will be 24 feet away from screen. An additional 12 feet behind same sofa.

How should home theater speakers be setup?

Sorry, horrible drawing.

The 2 chairs can swivel. Behind the sofa is 12 ft.

Width is 21 ft
Length is 36 feet

What's your budget and what are you looking for as far as surround?

Do you have the ability to put speakers in the ceiling above the sofa for the rears?

A basic 5.1 would work fine for this. Red speaker locations are fronts/center/rears. The rears could go in the ceiling or on speaker stands. Blue is the sub.

I have a Denon X3400 already. I can put speakers in the ceiling because it hasn't been sheetrock yet.

My main question is will the front speakers be too far away for people in the 24 foot away sofa? Is it heard of to move the front center, left and right forwarded feet?

It seems like it would be weird to see a picture further away than the sound.

Sorry forgot to say, I'd like tower speakers in front for music as well. I can spend $3k total on speakers.

I've heard of ELAC. Would u recommend those? Or Klipsch?

I don't think the distance is an issue, when you run the speaker calibration the denon software will take care of the distance issue.. Is this a living room or a dedicated theater room?

As far as speakers it's personal choice.. I agree with towers for the front, but I'd do in-ceiling rears.. unless you're ok with speaker stands and wires. Check out avsforum and ask for specific speaker recommendations there.

The red/blue locations were on the drawing, I placed the speaker locations.

I attached it to my previous post. You may need to be on the desktop site to see it, not the app/mobile.
