Looks most interesting for uses other than a monitor stand. There might be more width clearance underneath and between the legs than with the 3M one. Some may prefer all black versus black and silver. 3M one says it has an 80lb capacity versus this having 22lb. Could be easier to get parts for 3M one.

Duh... I can't see what prevents the monitor in the first few Amazon images from falling over backwards. What am i missing ... please?

Nothing to do with the stand as balance would be the same with any flat surface. I think it's an iMac- it's hard to tell in photos but the screen/center of gravity is more forward than it looks. So the weight/pressure is more leaning forward toward the foot than backward
