the wildside jar is defo better for blending consistency and ease of cleanup. I wouldn't shy away from refurb given you do get warranty on it.

Bought this from the Amazon Treasure truck a few months ago when it included a smoothie jar. It works well, but when using frozen fruits it always leaves a few sizeable chunks no matter what. Haven't used for anything else other than smoothies. But I'm a little disappointed given the price and pedigree of the brand.

These always end up cheaper than the vitamixes. I actually was sitting on this model from Costco for $199. I ended up returning it. Because the $29.99 nutrinija thingie from walmart did all the smooth and ice breaking I needed. Just in smaller batches. I couldn't justify the $200 and I doubt I'd be making enough soup in it to ever cover the additional $170 bucks. Just food for thought. I was really into getting and keeping this. I would say I think new is lifetime or something along those lines not to mention costcos really good return policy. Once or twice I think the Costco one came with an extra jar. so doesn't hurt to keep an eye out for their clearances if you have time to wait on it.

I'm having the same issue. I'm like should it be doing this? Sometime I have to stick the spatula in there to help it move it around so it can start doing its thing to swirl it around. Otherwise, the stuff on the sides of the jar never moves and it doesnt get mixed in. Makes me wonder if a Vitamixer does the same thing or not. Kinda wish I bought the Blendtec at Costco, so I could easily return it and get a Vitamixer.

This company called alterna jar makes a lid with tamper for blendtec I used which helps if you want a more solid consistency. It replaces the normal blendtec lid.

I ran into the same issues but to adjust for it, I have started to add more liquid while maintaining/decreasing the frozen solids so that it doesn't get stuck as often. I agree that a brand that is so highly regarded shouldn't have this issue but then again, this is one of their oldest/lowest tier models. If and when this stops working, I'd shell out the extra cash for a vitamix.
