I bought this monitor back in February when it was on sale for about $250. Unfortunately, it was hit and miss (mostly miss) on compatibility with different connection types. Here were the results of my tests:

Dell XPS 13 9343 -> Mini-DP adapter to Display-Port cable -> DP inputs 1 and 2 : display distortion on the right side of the display with static

Dell XPS 13 9343 -> Mini-DP to HDMI active 4k 60hz adapter to HDMI 2.0 cable -> HDMI inputs 1 and 2: no picture, recognized on Windows 10 but unable to set/change resolution to ANY resolution

Dell XPS 13 9360 -> USB-C to HDMI/DVI/VGA "Cable Creations" adapter to HDMI cable: good picture, no distortion, no dead pixels.

Dell XPS 13 9360 -> USB-C to DisplayPort adapter to DP cable -> Inputs DP1 and DP2 -> same right-sided display distortion (tried multiple known good DP cables which worked perfectly on another 4k display)

Dell XPS 13 9360 -> USB-C to HDMI 4k 60hz adapter -> no picture, recognized on Windows 10 but unable to set/change resolution to ANY resolution.

ALL of the above combinations work perfectly on another inexpensive 4k monitor (the Sceptre 27" from NewEgg deal for $160 last week. The Sceptre doesn't have the little remote for controlling volume, but for use with a computer/laptop, I don't see myself using it much anyway.

I ended up sending the first Monoprice one back and it took me a month to get a free RMA replacement, and the replacement has the same compatibility problems, and also sometimes starts blacking out for 1 second every 15-300 seconds which is sometimes fixed by removing the display cable and plugging it back in.

I'm waiting >72 hours now for MonoPrice to respond to an in-warranty repair request, as now it has been >30 days since purchase and the free returns period is over.

I'll admit that I haven't seen other people reporting these problems when they bought the Monoprice, and perhaps there's some weird incompatibility issue that I'm experiencing, but it does seem strange to have so many issues with otherwise known good cables/adapters/computers. YMMV....

One of the comments on the monitor says that it's not IPS.

Also, check the rest of the pictures as well. I hate when they photoshop the images to show it being edge to edge, when it does in fact still have a bezel. One of the photos shows what it really looks like.

look at the Q&A section. There was a question that asked the following
"Is this really the LG 27UD68-P monitor that Monoprice private labels?"

And the best answer was the following posted by user called Brandon C. on Sep 23
"I believe MP is lying about this panels true origin. I bought 2 and I can tell you the secret menu says that its a Model: RTD2795 Panel: AUO. Date: 7/13/2017 Going to AUO's site we see they do indeed make a bezel-less 4k panel 27" UHD 4K 3840 x 2160 AHVA SNB & Bezel-less. So its NOT IPS and NOT LG."

Note that in that same section an MP staff responded saying the monitor is indeed LG IPS panel on Aug 23.

so either you believe the employee of MP or a customer. I would typically go with customer since employee of the company has benefit to lie

Amazing deal. The monitor is sleek with minimal bezel. If I don't have a LG 4k, I will go for it.

Is this real IPS or VA-IPS? Monoprice often says IPS when it's actually VA-IPS

Are you looking at the comments on the monoprice site? I don't see where a comment is saying this isn't an IPS panel.

It's matte IPS, I bought it last week. Also, sides and top bezel is black 1/4"with super slim aluminum around it. Colors seem excellent and I'm pleased with the panel overall.

Vertical Alignment panel. In short you get a smaller viewing angle but better contrast and black uniformity. Depending which you want it helps to pick one over the other.
