Bodum Bistro Burr Grinder (Red) $57.95 or less

This seems to be a well-reviewed conical burr grinder and an excellent price if you like the red color (current price on Amazon is nearly $100 and Camelx3 shows all-time low price of $68). Price is also close to the Target clearance price of $50 that was a popular deal a few years back. LINK.

Steps:

Buy the $100 Illy.com voucher at Gilt.com for $50 (or $45, if you qualify for 10% off for new customer sign-up). GILT link [gilt.com].

Receive voucher code in e-mail from Gilt.

Add Bodum Bistro to cart at Illy.com. Illy link [illy.com].

NOTE: Enter the Gilt.com voucher into the Promo Code field on the first page of checkout (it's not considered a gift card.)

Shipping is not free because the Gilt voucher discounts the grinder to $0. Shipping should be $7.95. There may be sales tax in NY? Not certain.

My total was $52.95 delivered.

Horrible customer service.
Poorly made burr grinder with plastic gears.
After filling out the RMA as per an email, they returned the broken grinder (shipped at my expense) unopened, with a note on the box saying not authorized. Did I mention horrible customer service and a poorly made grinder?

Well the reviews I can find online seem to disagree with you on the quality of this coffee grinder.

I have this grinder (black version) and it's still going strong after 4+ years. It makes decently fine expresso grinds (and all other grind levels) for its class. Not sure about the color, but excellent entry at this price.

Agree. I got mine from the Target closeout (~$50), and it's been working great. Use it for both espresso grind and drip grind.

Lousy grinder, worse support. Was fine until it wasn't, then Bodum bowed out. True that some liked the grinder. I would never buy an electric product from Bodum.

It's you against the world bud.
Bought mine from amazon, and use it for pour-over grinds. Espresso grinds are meh but ok for the price.

Bud, this isn't a fight. Me against the world?! I'm not losing, you are not winning. This is a deal site. My experience with their product was bad. I am not trying to convince you to avoid Bodum, but sharing info about my Bodum experience, about a product that I found inferior and a company that took my money but refused to warranty their product after agreeing to an RMA.

You came into this post announcing that this is a terrible coffee grinder. But it sounds more like you had a defective product, which appears to be an outlier in terms of the vast majority of units sold, then you had a bad customer service experience. Maybe next time you thread crap be a little bit more transparent.

Why so defensive?
It's not thread crapping when he brings up a legitimate problem that's been documented by others. It is a fact that it has plastic gears that are a "weak link"

Just stop. You're all hyped up, calling me a thread crapper because I don't agree, or to make what point?! Chill.

Tl;dr: it's just spiffy for the price

The design or implementation is faulty, and the manufacturer should have replacement parts, but they don't. The similarly designed (but sadly differently sized) breville bcg800 has the same problem, but replacements can be acquired. The gears won't strip on their own, but if you get a stone in your coffee, there is a clutch that is supposed to activate to prevent gear damage. It's either not effective (improperly specced springs) or subject to deterioration (grease gummed up over time or coffee grounds block it up). So don't defend the design.

That said, it's also a relatively quiet grinder as grinders go, it'll do a fine grind, and it can be had for half the price of a baratza. So when they offered me the choice of a new one for iirc 75, and it was take my chances again or 130 for a baratza, I gnashed my teeth and ordered the bodum.(if it had been on sale at the time I would have gone with the baratza, but my coffee wouldn't wait)

I just threw this grinder away. It performed well for me for years, plastic gears or not. It was in storage for about a year and whole outside turned sticky.

I'd buy this again. The red looks nice.

Anyone have a recommendation for a grinder? The only one I like is the Breville Smart Grinder Pro, but that one is very expensive. I don't like turning a silly timer on the less expensive models.
