Home Depot Cosco Telescoping Ladder $141.25 + Free shipping - 5-30-18 Only

I've been looking for a well reviewed telescoping ladder and this appears to be a great deal on a name brand manufacturer. This ladder is a 12.5 ' frame with a "16 foot reach" and Cosco is a well respected name brand maker of ladders and household equipment.

$141.25 appears to be the lowest price to date and most stores are going for $193 - Deal is at Home Depot for Wednesday 5/30/18 only!

The ladder is 300 lbs rated and Type IA meaning extra heavy duty.

The brand has been around for years but that doesn't make it a good ladder. I'm a home inspector, and these ladders are hot topics among the community. They fail all the time. We hear of 5 or 6 failures per year and I know people with real injuries because of them.
Bottom line: don't cheap out on telescoping ladders. Look up the UK study on the subject.
There are two brands worth buying: Telesteps and Xtend-N-Climb. Anything else should be assumed to be dangerous unless it's passed rigorous third party tests. The extra hundred bucks you spend could be your life.

The brand isn't a Chinese ripoff of Costco. The Cosco brand has been around for many years in the consumer market space from everything from folding tables and chairs to ladders.

Costco is a warehouse club... that would be like calling a screwdriver Walmrt. Not even correlated. Just because a brand is one letter off doesn't mean it's trying to rip off a store name.

That said, good deal on the price for the post, but I'll second the statement made to do your homework before blindly buying items that need rigorous safety testing.

I'm a certified cheapskate. However, I don't try to save money on anything that has to do with my safety.(or anyone else's safety)

Spend a few extra bucks on a ladder that will keep you safe. Think of it this way... if you save $100 on a questionable Chinese ladder, is it really worth it? You many end up spending hundreds of dollars on your insurance deductible if you fall. (or worse)

As stated above, Cosco is an American company (based in Columbus, IN) that is a subsidiary of a Canadian Company (Dorel). They have a good reputation. If you don't like the deal, move on. But please don't pass along mis-information to make a point.

thanks for the heads up. I always thought cosco was ok. So far my latest brands are gorrilla and werner. Little giant seems pricey. I will remember telesteps. repped.
