Nice deal, but note no hard drive for data storage and only 8GB of RAM.

You can add a hard drive and upgrade memory and still be cheaper then the other deal. G7 was on sale at Best Buy for $1050 with 16gb ram and 128+1 Tb hard drive.

If you don't like SD rebates, this one is probably best 1060 deal for you

Does not qualify for SD rebates but good deal with CB sites. Another thing the ram is 2x4gb! I just can't understand why Dell couldn't use 1x8gb.

Seems ridiculous to me. Obviously it's the cheap factor.

Probably because dual channel 8gig is better performance wise than single channel 8gb

You do get dual channel speeds with 2 sticks, although the real world difference might be small. I think you are right, they figure people would rather have a cheap price.

Dell is saying "This coupon is valid but cannot be applied to this order."

What gives?

I'll just wait a year or two when hopefully ram prices go down and can get a 2x8gb and not pay an arm and a leg for it

ThunderBolt 3 on this laptop makes this a really amazing deal IMO. The 1060 should be good enough for right now but TB3 gives this laptop a little bit of futureproofing too. If I had the cash I would probably buy this today.

Well I was planning on upgrading with another 8 gig stick but with 2x4gb than I would have to replace both sticks to get 16 gb.
