Lot of Amazon reviews saying the drive runs hot and performance degrades over time due to heat. Not sure if a good buy for running linux on a laptop's 3.0 port.

I have a few of these that I use, 64 and 128. They do get hot to the touch. However in my experience they are hot because of the metal construction that conducts heat better than the typical plastic flash drive shell. The fact that it gets hot is a plus, to me, since the heat is getting "out" of the drive more efficiently. I use dozens of flash drives for work and I've had great luck with these. Very fast and I've personaly noticed no speed degredation. Ymmv of course.

Bulk means it comes in a simple bag or box and not in retail packaging. It has nothing to do with whether it's real or fake, and I doubt SanDisk would sell counterfeits of their own products.

Edit: Whew, could I have gotten ninja'd more?

Yep, I used a few of these for work and they all ran very hot that it burned my fingers. Sandisk said should RMA it. one of the drives already getting flaky so stopped using it.

Really? So SanDisk manufactures fakes of their own products and then sells them to the world from their own website. Worst criminals ever. ROFLMFAO!!

That has to be one of the dumbest comments I've ever seen on SD. What an F-ing troll. Typical moronic consumer, sees one word and figures they have the whole story. Doesn't even take two seconds before commenting and putting down someone else's post. Advertisers love you. They just flash shiny words and you figure the entire history, design, and purpose of every single product put before you.

LOL. Just messing with you. But seriously, Really???
