I'm not expert but looking at them at the store a couple of things. One this is heavier than the Pelican by about 8 pounds and those 8 pounds do make a difference. This one doesn't have cup holders but you can buy one pretty cheaply to add. The positives on this are one it has the storage in the back,. The Pelican doesn't have any inside storage. So if you wanted to bring your camera or phone you'd have to keep it on top or by your feet. Plus talking to the guy at Dicks he doesn't like Kayaks with two separate moldings meaning there are two pieces put together. He's seen a lot come back because they start to separate. That is what the Pelican has but this one does not. So positives and negatives

10" - what is this - a kayak for ants?

The Ozark trail $20 paddle is just fine. Has curved paddles which are better than the ones that come along as freebies, and three angles you can position the paddles either alinged straight or one pitched forward or back. Aluminum, two piece handle. Drip guards. Not bad for $20.

Any thoughts on whether this is better than the pelican 100 NXT?

This looks very similar to the Lifetime Lancer 10' Kayak at walmart for $188

I don't know for sure , but comparing in the store the pelican seemed better built and had some extra features I liked (such as an extra cupholder and a small netted shelf in the front of the cockpit). I ended up with the Pelican and I'm happy with it.

I checked these out in store. 2 main take aways compared to the 10 foot pelican 100nxt.

Neither of them can accept a skirt. The lifetime has a much better back support.

Wish these were cheaper, need to get 3 for the summer. May I have to buy used from cl.
Idk about your area but here in Ohio kayaks hold their value. I see used kayaks sell for double this that are of equal quality/features.

In for 2. Anyone have any paddle recommendations? Not a big kayaking snob here, just looking for basic functionality.
