Are there any special add-on services that I can get?
One of our top value-added services is Premier Service and our new Safety Mode service:

What's Premier Service?
  • Data rollover
  • Pay As You Go Boost
  • Online Security
  • Private Internet
  • Data Compression
  • Premium Support
  • Usage Alerts

What's Safety Mode?
FreedomPop offers a new service called Safety Mode for $4.99 per month. With this service, you will get a one-time addition of 500 MBs of data -- added immediately to your account -- plus an additional 10% of data each month. You can also enable or disable Top Ups at any time. For more information please visit the following support article https://support.freedompop.com/ap...ety%20mode

Why was I charged $0.01?
We strive to offer a low cost mobile phone alternative to larger carriers. After downgrading to our basic plan, a $0.01 charge can be applied, please refer to our Service Plans Terms agreement [freedompop.com] under "Active and Suspended Broadband and Phone Service".

What about the Basic Plan?
We will always offer our basic plan (200mb per month). Downgrade directly from your FreedomPop account page anytime once your device ships and your service is activated.

Please Note! When downgrading to the basic plan, an account balance of $2 is required to protect from fraud and leakage, as data usage can be delayed up to 3 hours. There is a pop-up alert before to confirm a $15 charge to add credit into your account. Downgrade is not complete until the pop-up is accepted.

How do I earn extra data? (Freedom Friends)

You can earn additional free data each month by connecting with friends on FreedomPop! You'll earn 50MB of additional data for every friend that joins our service per month, up to a maximum of 500MB per month. Both your account and your friends account must be active. If either account is dormant, sharing data will not work.

You can also share data between friend accounts (a maximum of 500MB, and 100MB with each friend). The account sharing data must be an active one. If the account is inactive it cannot share data with any friends and data cannot be requested of that account.

Please Note: If you have already received 500MB of data -- either from the automatic Freedom Friends function that gives you 50MB per friend or from data that has been shared with you -- you will not be able to accumulate more data from Friends. Please refer to the following support article for more information regarding Freedom Friends: https://support.freedompop.com/ap...86/kw/data

FYI - this Netgear GSM Unite LTE Hotspot is an Certified pre-owned AT&T device and is LOCKED to AT&T.

Does anyone know if it is possible to unlock it so it can be used with other data SIMs?

can you use Unite's sim card elsewhere, like in another phone?
is it the standard 3in1 sim that freedompop uses?

Yes and Yes, you can also stick any other AT&T based MNVO SIM inside this Netgear Unite and it will accept it

Can I buy this now, but not activate the 1st month ~mid august? I want to use this for a big road trip out west... Worried that this deal will expire then.
Also, how difficult is it to cancel? I don't see any terms for keeping the hotspot... Is the minimal investment only $10?

Yes, you can do it on AT&T based ones but not Sprint/CDMA ones

This is a minor necro, but I wanted to say the deal was still live. I've never used Freedom Pop before, but for $10 I figure it may come in handy. I'll be trying it with T-Mobile, since if I can get it working there I can bring it over for unlimited 4g lte $20/mo. I'll post results when it arrives and I go to the Tmobile store.

Also wanted to add at Checkout it allows you to add a second one for $4.99. Worth it just for the sim and extra free data per month.

Which Tmobile Plan are you referencing to which costs 20$/Month and gives unlimited 4G LTE? I am curious, thanks

Do we get to keep the hotspot if we cancel the service? Since it's lock with AT&T, i figure it would not work with T-mobile right? thank

You get to keep the hotspot, but yes it's locked so won't work with a T-Mobile SIM, and even if you get it unlocked somehow, the 3G and LTE bands supported by this device is basically AT&T only: B17 (700) and B4 (1700/2100) on LTE. and B5 (850), and B2 (1900) on 3G.

Yes, if you decide to cancel the account you're welcome to keep the device. However, if you are within the 30-day return warranty you can return it for a refund.

Rumor:
FreedomPop Friends bonus data reduction!

FreedomPop is reducing the amount of free monthly bonus data that you get having FreedomPop friends.
It is changing to 5mb per friend, down from 50mb per friend.
the maximum is now 50mb (10 friends). It was 50mb per friend with a 500mb maximum.

So this means the maximum LTE sim free plan monthly data will be 250mb per sim (200+50) instead of 700mb (200+500). Frown

It appears Freedompop is making the change to existing accounts when they hit their monthly renewal.
uuggg..

so the cdma plan is 500meg + 50 = 550meg max?
