I have a bunch of airline miles to use for free flights and am trying to find cheap hotels by date and have it suggest cities that are off peak and or cheap for hotel rooms. Is there a website or tip for this?

You could go somewhere no one else wants to go. It's summer. Phoenix? Texas?

Usually you have to put in a city and hotels within a certain radius will come up. You could look for travel deals sites like travelzoo for hotel specials.

You can also extend your miles by registering a credit card and shopping through the airline's shopping portal -- I extended some by going to United's portal and buying something at JCPenney that I was going to buy anyways. I also have credit cards registered for Dining for Miles and got away pretty cheap as there was a To-Go restaurant that participated. You don't have to spend much but the little nudge is enough to keep the miles alive for another year or more.

I don't think there is a site like that. A question that might help you is, what are your interests or hobbies and is there anywhere you've always wanted to go but haven't been there yet. That way we could help you with cheaper off peak hotel suggestions.

For example, the Oregon Coast is beautiful but expensive, yet if you go in the off peak season you can get good deals on hotels, vacation rentals and B&Bs. Their off peak is usually after labor day and up to the end of March, it varies a bit per hotel. The coastline is still ruggedly beautiful and fun but the weather may be cooler and rainy.
