An alternative might be to get a decent wireless router to start with Wink Have no issues streaming to my wireless Amazon Fires/Chromecasts/Rokus, without the wired headache Wave

If you live in an area with lots of noise and/or lots of hackers trying to use KRACK to break your wifi then sometimes a wired connection would be welcome. One of my Firesticks is two feet from the router and it still has problems because when someone tries a KRACK attack it often causes the connection to reset even with (or maybe because of) the key-reinsertion protection.

With that said, it's too bad this thing isn't gibabit ethernet. You could build your own using a standard gigabit to USB adapter but it's a lot of work because you have to integrate the external power supply.
